A Brief History of Tattoos

In 2018, we were assigned to create a chapter book by Shelle Barron in our Movements in Graphic Design course. We had to research any topic of our choice and create a multi-chapter book where we wrote, quoted, and designed a book based on said topic. Once it was designed, we were then tasked with printing and piecing together a physical book ourselves.

The paper, the font, and images were chosen to help enhance and embody the beginning of the history of tattoos and the experience of those who may have lived in those times. Subtle elements, like the side design and book cover, allude to specific clues to tattoo history.
