ART100
The team of five, including myself, was tasked with creating a project for Edinboro’s centennial celebration of art. After consulting with the school, our client, we learned that our goal was to bridge the gap between the various disciplines that helped shape the institution. This collaborative effort not only involved our team but also our professors, who played a crucial role by providing valuable design feedback throughout the process.

Arthur Gansen, a kinetic sculptor, inventor, and musician creates mechanical art demonstrations with existential themes. His work has been exhibited in galleries and museums in both the United States and Europe.
For this project, I had the pleasure of being paired with a classmate, Jed, who took lead design. We tried several concepts on our own prior to coming to class to provide feedback to one another.
My question throughout was: How do I showcase him in a way that is be true to him and his work?

Ivy + Atlas
I led a team of three other design students in creating the branding and identity for IVY+ATLAS (formerly IVY+INK).
During the project, we learned the critical importance of clear and consistent communication with the client. Initially, we didn’t engage with her as frequently as we should have, which led to some miscommunication. As a result, we had to revise the entire project just one week before the deadline. This experience taught us a valuable lesson about the need for thorough discussions and clarity at every stage. It’s a lesson that has stayed with all of us: communication and clarity are key to success.

Each designer developed their own mood boards, color palettes, and typefaces to guide the direction of IVY+INK.
Following the client’s request, we began with brainstorming the name. Once it was finalized, each designer created 50 logo variations. Our top picks—voted on by the team and our professors, Cassandra Reese and Scott Gladd—were brought into Illustrator, printed, and voted on once more.
From there, we selected three final logo designs to present to our client.
